Coast & Country

The coastline of Northumberland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts forty miles of unspoilt beaches. Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth are three remarkable costal castles, each situated less than half an hour’s drive from Woodland Chase.

If idyllic countryside landscape is what you’re looking for, look no further than Simonside Hills, Cheviot Hills or Thrunton Woods. With walks and hikes of varying difficulties, both Sunday strollers and hardy hikers will be satisfied.

Less than a mile away, the River Coquet runs through the quaint village of Felton, which can be reached through neighbouring farmland via a public footpath. In and around Felton, there are a number of circular walks that can be conveniently coordinated with visits to local pubs and eateries.

Food & Drink

Northumberland has plenty to offer the discerning diner, from posh nosh to pub grub.

Just down the road from us, you’ll find The Running Fox, whose exceptionally popular afternoon tea is not to be missed. For a hearty meal and a decent pint, head to The Northumberland Arms in Felton or The Market Tavern in Alnwick. If an Indian takeaway is more your style, Lal Khazana in Shilbottle gets our vote.

With its famed coastline, seafood is a huge part of Northumbrian food heritage. Try Craster kippers and Lindisfarne oysters, and visit The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh or The Old Boat House in Amble if you get the chance.
